You’re Lucky — You Got Paid to Learn

“You’re Lucky — You Got Paid to Learn”

A reflective note on learning through work

A few years ago, someone I deeply respect — a leader at the company where I worked — once said something to me that I’ve never forgotten:

“You’re lucky — you got paid to learn.”

At the time, I was in the middle of a three-year journey at PT Sangkuriang Internasional, a technology company that became more than just a workplace.
It became a classroom.
A training ground.
A place where I didn’t just work — I grew.

I didn’t come from a prestigious university.
But I had the opportunity to learn from brilliant people who shared their knowledge generously.
I didn’t hold advanced academic titles, but I was trained by experience, logic, and real-world challenges.

I realized something powerful:
Learning doesn’t always require tuition — sometimes, life gives you the chance to be paid while you learn.

Yes, I received a salary.
But more than that, I received guidance.
I received trust.
And I received lessons I still carry with me today.

Now, I continue my journey as a content creator, blogger, and microstock contributor.
And I carry with me the same mindset I had back then:
To stay curious, stay humble, and never stop learning.

🔖 Closing thought:

This post is simply a thank-you — to experience, to mentors who took the time, and to my past self for choosing growth over comfort.

“You don’t always pay to go to school. Sometimes, if you’re lucky and willing, life pays you — while it teaches you.”
